Start with 99mm versus 107mm
The label “SCX30” is not enough to choose a link or driveshaft set. Axial’s AXI-3307 link set is specified for 99mm-wheelbase vehicles and lists the Bronco, K10 and Wrangler JLU. The Tacoma uses the 107mm AXI-4429 link set and its own long-wheelbase driveshaft set.

The two Tacomas have different wheel and body packages
Axial distinguishes the green T1 crawler version from the T2 overland version. T1 has deleted fenders, a wider wheel stance and larger tires; T2 has fender flares and roof-rack details. Both belong to the Tacoma family, but a tire-clearance result from one is not automatic evidence for the other. Axial’s Tacoma specifications.
Check steering at full lock and suspension movement with the body installed. Record the exact variant when asking a seller about a larger tire or a different wheel offset.
Three checks before buying upgrades
- Wheels and tires: match the bead diameter, then check outside diameter, width, wheel hex, offset and clearance. “0.7-inch” identifies the wheel/tire mounting size; it does not guarantee body clearance.
- Axles and shafts: distinguish a complete axle from replacement shafts for a particular aftermarket axle. For example, MEUS labels its three-section shafts for its SCX30 Isokinetic axle assembly. MEUS replacement-shaft listing.
- Chassis and power: check motor/transmission dimensions, mounting pattern, driveshaft alignment and the electronics you must retain or replace. A chassis kit or body/chassis set is not a complete running vehicle.
Make one change for a named problem: damaged part, tire rubbing, weak steering or chassis clearance. Keep the original part number alongside the upgrade listing so you can compare the actual application.
