Make two choices: width, then completion level

What the wider version changes in your decision
The 10W RTR lists 228mm between the wheel hexes, a 330mm wheelbase and 2.2-inch wheels with 5.25-inch tires. Hex-to-hex width is an axle measurement; it is different from the truck’s overall width across its tires. Vertex-10W RTR specifications.
Our buying suggestion: measure the narrowest passages and gates you regularly drive, then consider the wheel offset and tire width you plan to use. A wider stance may suit an open rock garden, while extra width can make a narrow route less convenient. That is a terrain choice, rather than a claim that one version wins every obstacle.
Before buying axle shafts, steering links or a body, check the exact 10 or 10W part listing. A shared family name does not confirm that every width-dependent part is interchangeable.
When the Slider makes sense
A Slider is worth pricing out when you already have suitable electronics or want control over the build. For the standard Vertex-10 Slider, Redcat specifies an outrunner motor envelope of 36mm diameter and 31mm maximum length, plus the necessary electronics and running gear. Build a complete basket before comparing it with an RTR: chassis + electronics + wheels/tires + battery/charger + finishing supplies + shipping. Count existing parts only after checking their dimensions, connectors and operating specifications. This often matters more than the difference between the advertised chassis prices.
